was kinda thinking about doing a motor swap...im selling/trading my 5m's and a few 6m parts for 200+ an 82 22r.

currently have the 3t with a holley350 and a header... good fun for now, has all new accessorys and is soo far reliable(knock on wood)
comp is good across the board... hmmm.

22r is all torn down and sitting on a stand. id kinda like to do a slow build of stock parts and a nice cam in her....my issue....

I just got a head and cam for the 3t....was gunna use taxes to get that all together.... well, now im not sure what i want! :(

opinions? i know all you 4ag guys are gunna hate up on the 22r.... but this ain't no drifting hi revving demon.... yet.... i like the power and torque involved with the 22... so lets hear it!?

What 5m stuff do you have left?

I have a ported 20R head with a header.

I also have some low compression turbo pistons I'm not going to use.

If you could scrounge a manifold and CT20, you could 22RTE your TE72.

I could help if you wanted to 18RG it. A 3TG would be fun, but try to find one... Or even the 3TGTE with 8 sparkplugs.

You wouldn't want to 5M, 6M or 7M it, too heavy.. Unless it's 7MGTE with a T04, then weight wouldn't be any problem.

The 1GGZE is the lightest 6-cylinder, but I've never seen one in the US.

You'd also have to T50 -> W50, but that wouldn't be hard.

I speak fluent Toyota.

I told myself a while ago the only motor swaps i would do would be a 22rte, or 3tgte. lol. but i figure id like to have a non-boosted dd. lol. Coming across a w58 isnt a problem in tucson, plenty of celicas in the yard, heck. could probably just go thru a celica and get every lil bit and just have a celica drivetrain powered rolla. lol. The 6.3" diff doesnt hold up much torque does it? hmmm. Id love to do a high comp 20r head and have a fun little 22r beatin around. maybe a nice little cam and id be set. but now i have this damn 3tc head and cam and what not... hmmm. who would be interested in that stuff? or trades? hmmm? lol

1ggze? 1ggte? Ive heard of the later, wasn't aware of a supercharged version... but there are a few in the states(gte). both MkIII's and MkII's. its hmm.

There's an 18RG on craigslist for 700 complete.
I still have at least 2 18RGs, but no extra carbs. I can sell you one cheap without carbs.
That's N/A and the 18R block is narrower than the 22R, so it would fit the crossmember better than the 22R. It still needs a W-50.
The 18R is a high revving motor, not a like the torque of the 22R, so the rearend should last.
The 1gg is a 6-cyl, but it's only 2.0 liters, so it's almost like having a 4ag with 2 extra cylinders. It's twincam and revs to the sky. It's gotta be super light.

I've done the 20r/22r combo. It's pretty nice. Great midrange torque, just no more power after 5k.

well if i can use my 22r and get something together cheap id rather do that... im sick of this no torque. lol.
the 1g is kinda a pos motor from my understanding.... no real aftermarket for it... especially here... motors came stock in supra's and soarers back in the day... just kinda eh....

Im either gunna keep my 3t or do a 22r swap... anyone know if the 22r intake mani is the same as the 3t intake, regarding the carb flange bolt pattern? wondering if my carb and adapter would work... lol.
